Old Book!

Its mine & Jame's 4th Wedding Anniversary this August and this is just one part of my present to him,
{ He never looks on here so I know it'll still be a surprise}

The paper substrate book box is from Hobbycraft,{ £3.49} which I have covered in  Kraft wrapping paper which I have soaked in warm water and then I squeezed out  all the ater and hung to dry.Once dry I rubbed the hole of the surface with "Aged Mahoganny" Distress ink  then tore into loads of little pieces before decopatching the box. Ensuring the whole box was covered I then gave it  a coat of "Aged Mahoganny" ink &3 coats of watered down PVA glue to seal the leather look paper.  I then mounted the metal corners with normal strength PVA and guilded the edges with Gold Leaf. Then sealed with one more coat of PVA.
The leaves of the book are strips of water colour paper aged with "Old Paper" & "Brushed Cordroy" inks. It doesn't quite feel finished yet but I'm not sure whats missing!!

Happy Anniversary! What a delightful book! Until I read your text, I thought I was looking at a real vintage book. What a lot of work you have put into it. I don't think it's missing anything at all! Hugs, Lesley
